Post 5 - Changes to Social Work study programme
Hi everyone!
To be honest, I don't have many ideas of things I would change about the Social Work curriculum because I chose this career by comparing the curriculum of the University of Chile versus other universities; for me, the curriculum of this university is very complete, since you can learn social sciences.
About the workload, I must say that sometimes (almost always) I think it is too much, reading and going to class is difficult, I can't read all the texts they ask us, the time is not enough. But, I think the length of the course is fine, it makes the difference between university and technical studies.
I think there is a lack of resources to improve the infrastructure of the faculty, although it is not bad, in FACSO the classrooms are usually too small, the tables are unstable, among other things.
One thing that was repeated to us a lot in the first year is that we will have to work with programs like Excel, but during that year, we used it very few times and I felt that it did not make sense to do the calculations manually, since a program would always do it.
And finally, about the teaching methods, I think that only reading texts is tedious and boring, I would like to recommend more audiovisual material. About the classes, I would like to have a visual support, such as power point, because many times I get distracted and that visual aid helps me to catch up.
Thanks for reading!
TO MUCH READING I agree with you
ResponderEliminarThe idea of recommending more visual support as a teaching method seems great to me!! <3
ResponderEliminarI agree that we read a lot and we don't have enough time to read everything,,, sad
ResponderEliminarHello Javi!!! You are very right about the excess of readings, it is usually very difficult to complete them all on time: ( If you need it, we can help us with the readings, it would be a pleasure:)
ResponderEliminarHi Javi! i love your ideas to improve your study programme!
ResponderEliminarI also think that sometimes they give us a lot of reading for each week:(, and it is difficult to read everything
ResponderEliminarI very much agree that they teach us little or nothing about programs as important for working life as Excel or SPSS.
