Post 7 - TV Shows and Series

Imagen
Hi everyone!  I think series were an important part of my childhood, because in my neighborhood there were no kids to play with, so I could only play with my brother or watch TV. One of my favorite shows was "Malcolm in the Middle". I would watch it while eating powdered milk or Milo. I liked that series because it was so funny and the humor of the show was simple. Life was simple on those days :(. I also, obviously, watched The Simpsons, Adventure Time, Phineas and Ferb, among other series when I was little, but when I grew up, I started watching other iconic Chilean TV shows like Yingo. Pop Lolita, Yingo. Currently, I'm more into crime series, I think I've watched about 10 series on Netflix, because I think it's very interesting to know details of crimes and to know the minds of criminals. But I also like comedy series, like Gilmore Girls, sitcoms like Friends, etc., (next on my list is The Office).  Gilmore Girls. Personally, having a TV in my bedroom is great

Post 6 - English Language Challenges

Hello everyone! I think learning English has become more complex over time. I remember that I started learning English in elementary school in fourth grade, which means that, counting this year, I will have studied English for 9 years, and yet I feel like I don't handle it very well. This makes me think that maybe the way English is taught is a bit wrong. I have the feeling that most of us who know a little bit of the language do so because we learned it through series, music, movies, etc. Anyway, there is a noticeable difference between the English taught at school and the English taught at university, I feel that I have learned much more now than in previous years.  Personally, I like the use of blogs because it allows us to venture more into the language, it pushes us to occupy it despite having only one class per week, basically it allows us an instance to learn by ourselves. I like English, but I feel that I have to improve my writing and speaking, in reading I could say that

Post 5 - Changes to Social Work study programme

Hi everyone! To be honest, I don't have many ideas of things I would change about the Social Work curriculum because I chose this career by comparing the curriculum of the University of Chile versus other universities; for me, the curriculum of this university is very complete, since you can learn social sciences. About the workload, I must say that sometimes (almost always) I think it is too much, reading and going to class is difficult, I can't read all the texts they ask us, the time is not enough. But, I think the length of the course is fine, it makes the difference between university and technical studies. I think there is a lack of resources to improve the infrastructure of the faculty, although it is not bad, in FACSO the classrooms are usually too small, the tables are unstable, among other things. One thing that was repeated to us a lot in the first year is that we will have to work with programs like Excel, but during that year, we used it very few times and I felt

Post 4 - Time travel to the past

Imagen
Hi everyone! The idea of traveling to the future is scary to me, because everything you see in the future is like a prediction, and I don't know if when you change something in the present, the future will change, because I think that things must happen in one way, a kind of destiny if I can call it that way. Besides, I'm not optimistic so my idea of everything in the future is pure destruction, much more individualism and unhappiness. For all these reasons, I prefer traveling to the past, I think that it would be helpful to fix some issues or mistakes. I would probably use the time traveling for that, like in the movie "About Time", where the main character learns how to time travel and he only wants to remend mistakes and improve the present. Of course that there's some problems in time traveling to the past, (well, there are just theories) like changes in the future where all is different.  When time traveling be possible, I would like to go to the 90's, s

Post 3- My dream job

Hello everyone I think that my dream job would be to sell flowers. I'm saying this because I consider selling flowers a peaceful activity and less stressful than any other job.  This may be a bit confusing because I'm supposed to work on something related to my career, but I can't imagine myself working in an office, or in a municipality, I don't know.  That's why I would like to work selling flowers, in that job I see myself spending time with my family, taking care of animals (because I want to open a foundation for animals of any species to help them). So, selling flowers would. So, selling flowers would allow me that opportunity. But, thinking rationally, it's obvious that I can't keep all my dreams with a job that doesn't generate much money. Dreaming is for free. In this job, I think I need some communication skills because I will need to be good at convincing people to buy me flowers. Also, I will need to know a lot about flowers, things like how

Post 2 - The best Holidays Ever

Hi everyone I think that my best Holidays ever were precisely at the beginning of this year, I'm saying this because I went to Algarrobo with my boyfriend on our own, we saved money over the course of the past year, so we could have our first trip together in our aniversary. However, we didn't stay very long, we didn't have enough money to rent a cabin for more than two days :(. Anyway, although we didn't have too much time, we had a lot of fun doing things like walking along the seaside at sunset (unfortunately always carrying our heavy backpacks), we visited handicrafts market, in one of them we accidentaly broke some glasses that were on sale (but we scaped), we took a lot of photos of ourselves, tha landscapes and animals, we also played pool and ate a lot of "papas tornado". That holidays were the best so far because it was planned by ourselves, with our money and our time. And I also needed it, I didn't go to anywhere last year, and that makes that v

Post 1 - A Country I would like to visit

Imagen
Hi everyone! I really don't know which country I would like to visit, but maybe it could be Australia. I don't know why, I'm afraid of spiders and in that country there's a lot of them and everywhere. Perhaps visiting Australia will help me to face my fears. However, it's exciting for me to meet  new species of animals. I think that going to Australia will help me to polish my English and find better oportunities. I don't know too much about this country, there's kangaroos, beautiful landscapes, and definitely a lot of poisonous insects, spiders, snakes, etc. I also know that you can visit this country with something named "working holiday" it's like living there, but not. In Australia I would like to go for long walks in the afternoon, know its museums, its beaches, the Opera House in Sidney and I specially would like to travel Australia's cities. I first have to (sadly) finish my studies here in Chile, but after that, I would like to wor
